1) Rebind the prefix key from ctrl-b to ctrl-space. 2) Map alt-h,alt-j,alt-k,alt-l to move between window panes. 3) Remap the split keys to something more accessible. 4) Start numbering windows at 1 instead of 0 (makes switching more intuitive imo). 5) Steal a simple configuration for. ITerm2 now works nicely with XQuartz (I have version 2.7.11). When XQuartz is running, I just need to use 'ssh -Y' to enable X11 forwarding. If you run into a problem, try upgrading XQuartz, reboot (or log out and re-login), open XQuartz, then try connecting with iterm2.
- Update as of 8/2020. Some other worthy contenders not mentioned in the original answer are Tilix and Terminator (check them out!), and my top pick is still for the most part Qterminal. Linux terminals in general seem to be getting closer to parity with iTerm2. Current as of 9/2018. Here's a short list of iterm2 (v3) features.
- If you want to cover for situations where iTerm isn't installed in the standard location, you might use. Open -g -j -a iTerm 2/dev/null if $? -eq 0 ; then sleep 3 osascript -e 'tell application 'iTerm' to quit' else # install iTerm fi If iTerm is already running it will exit in this case.
Recently I have been looking for ways to work faster, that's why my goal is to reduce the number of applications in my work environment.
The change from a GUI app like Sublime Text to Vim was a horrible experience, that's why i decide to use Powerline and reduce the impact.
This guide will show you how to get vim and powerline up and running in 6 fairly easy steps.
We are going to use Homebrew and Vundler for easy installation purpose. Film wizard 2 7 0 8.
1. Install dependencies Via Hombrew
Pyton:
Vim:
Iterm 3 2 8 X 4 6
MacVim:
2. Install Powerline via Vundler
If you want to get more information about the Vundler plug-in manager for Vim check the github repo.
Iterm 3 2 8 X 4
3. Setup Powerline font
One of the more stressful things about setting up powerline is to make it look the way it should. On OSX you have to use prepatched fonts. What I would suggest is to install the font you like via FontBook app that came with Mac OSX system.
you can get the prepatched fonts from powerline-fonts
Iterm 3 2 8 X 4 5
4. Set .vimrc configuration for Powerline
5. Set configuration for MacVim
You'll need to edit your .vimrc and add the following code for GUI.
6. iTerm2 setup
Finally It's important to change the non-ASCII font for a prepatched one to get powerline working.
